Colleen Noll

SAGE Executive Director
SAGE Instructor: Practical Life

As the Founder of The Montessori School of Silicon Valley (MSOSV), I have brought over 30 years of experience as a Montessori educator, administrator, and teacher trainer. I am excited to announce the launch of the SAGE Teacher Educator Program, an initiative developed to address the critical need for comprehensive in-house training. Becoming a Montessori guide requires unwavering dedication to both the philosophy and curriculum – a commitment this program is designed to nurture.

The SAGE Montessori Teacher Educator Program offers participants 8 to 10 hours of formal training per week during work hours. Supported by our skilled team of Montessori instructors, we are committed to preparing every learner to confidently lead a Montessori classroom community.

Since completing my Montessori training in 1997, I have devoted 25 years to mentoring teachers, refining material presentations, and developing self-directed learning opportunities for MSOSV staff.

My passion for the Montessori method and my vision of delivering fully implemented programs across our five schools have been the driving force behind MSOSV’s growth.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing the transformative “aha” moments among adult learners—when the Montessori philosophy sparks a deep connection to the children they serve. I believe the essence of Montessori lies in aligning its philosophy with the materials and the teacher’s preparation. When these elements converge, a guide’s potential in the classroom becomes boundless.

As the instructor of the Practical Life area of the classroom, I believe that Practical Life is the cornerstone of the Montessori method, as it empowers young children with essential skills such as self-care, grace and responsibility. Children build their confidence and become prepared for later academic success. My approach blends patience, observation, and a deep understanding of child development that creates an environment where children thrive through meaningful work. Dr. Montessori’s writing remains a constant source of inspiration; her books are a fixture by my bedside, offering guidance whenever I face challenges. Each day, I am energized by the growth of Montessori adult learners as they evolve into skilled guides—an experience that ranks among the most fulfilling parts of my professional journey.

Alyssa Soriano

Montessori Educator
SAGE Instructor: Cultural, Classroom Management, and Positive Discipline

With over 15 years of experience as a Montessori educator and mentor, I am passionate about guiding both children and adult learners through their Montessori journey. My work focuses on supporting educators as they develop a deep understanding of Montessori principles and refine their ability to create prepared environments that foster independence, curiosity, and confidence.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my role is mentoring new Montessori guides—helping them navigate the challenges of teaching while celebrating the moments when theory, experience, and intuition align. I believe that Montessori educators thrive when they feel empowered, supported, and deeply connected to their work. My goal is to create opportunities for thoughtful discussions, self-reflection, and hands-on learning experiences that strengthen their confidence and skill.

Since beginning my Montessori journey, I have dedicated my career to mentoring teachers, facilitating training, and fostering a collaborative community of educators. I believe that Montessori extends beyond the classroom—it is a way of approaching learning and personal growth that shapes both the children we teach and the educators who guide them.

As an instructor and mentor, I emphasize the importance of patience, observation, and flexibility in the learning process. Just as we encourage children to embrace mistakes as part of their development, I believe in creating a supportive environment where adult learners feel empowered to explore, question, and refine their practice. The Montessori journey is one of continuous growth, and I remain dedicated to evolving alongside the educators I mentor.

Dr. Montessori’s philosophy is a constant source of inspiration, and her writings continue to guide my approach to teaching and mentorship. Each day, I am motivated by the growth of Montessori educators as they step into their roles with confidence and purpose—an experience that remains one of the most rewarding aspects of my professional journey.

Amanda Wagner

Montessori Educator & Administrator
SAGE Instructor: Sensorial

With over 20 years of experience in education—including more than a decade as a Montessori Lead Guide and Head of School—I am deeply committed to the Montessori philosophy and its transformative impact on both children and adults. My journey has taken me from classrooms to administrative roles and now into teacher training, where I support adult learners in developing their understanding of Montessori principles and their application in real-world settings. I hold a Montessori Teaching Certificate for the Primary level, a BA in Psychology, and numerous professional development certificates in areas such as inclusivity and infant and toddler development.

My approach to adult education is firmly rooted in Montessori philosophy. I strive to create a prepared environment that encourages self-directed learning, critical thinking, and respectful collaboration. Just as I observe children to meet their individual needs, I approach adult learners with the same attentiveness—honoring their unique backgrounds, learning styles, and professional goals. I offer choices, facilitate reflective dialogue, and build in time for independent exploration. I believe that adults, like children, thrive when given space to follow their curiosity and take ownership of their learning journey.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing the “aha” moments in adult learners—those instances when Montessori theory clicks through experience. I vividly remember mentoring a practicum student who was learning to step back and trust in the child’s process. Through a powerful moment working with the Trinomial Cube, she experienced the joy of independent success firsthand, which shifted her perspective on the importance of not rescuing children prematurely. It’s these authentic moments of transformation that affirm my passion for guiding educators.

Montessori’s core tenets—respect for individuality, intrinsic motivation, independence, and purposeful work—are just as meaningful for adults as they are for children. In my role as a mentor, I aim to embody these principles by fostering an inclusive, nonjudgmental learning community. I emphasize the role of the teacher as a guide and model lifelong learning through my own ongoing studies, participation in professional communities, and reflective practice.

I am inspired by the potential within every learner—child or adult—and by the ripple effect that passionate, well-prepared Montessori educators can have on the world. Through thoughtful guidance and meaningful connection, I support educators in developing not only their skills but also their sense of purpose, confidence, and voice. It is a privilege to walk alongside them on their Montessori path.

Montessori Educator & Administrator
SAGE Instructor: Language

With over 10 years of experience in Montessori education, I am committed to supporting both children and adults on their Montessori journey. My passion lies in mentoring educators, helping them develop a deep understanding of Montessori philosophy, and fostering learning environments where both students and teachers can thrive. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and an AMS Primary Montessori certification, equipping me with the knowledge and experience to guide others in their professional growth.

My approach to adult education reflects the same principles I apply in the classroom—respect for individuality, independence, and a belief in the power of self-directed learning. I recognize that every educator brings unique strengths and experiences, and I strive to create a space where they feel supported, valued, and empowered to grow. Teaching is a continuous journey of discovery, and I encourage educators to explore, reflect, and apply Montessori principles in ways that feel authentic to their practice.

As a mentor, I guide adult learners through observation, discussion, and hands-on experiences. I ask thought-provoking questions, foster collaboration, and encourage critical thinking—allowing educators to construct their own understanding of Montessori education through meaningful dialogue and practice. Learning is not about simply receiving information; it is about making connections, embracing curiosity, and finding personal relevance in what we teach.

I believe that every challenge presents an opportunity for growth, and I approach my work with patience, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous learning. Whether working with teachers, parents, or administrators, I provide mentorship and resources that help them build confidence and refine their skills in a way that aligns with Montessori’s timeless philosophy.

Maria Montessori’s vision of the educator as an observer, guide, and lifelong learner continues to shape my approach. Through careful observation, I tailor my guidance to the needs of each learner. As a mentor, I strive to uplift and inspire others, supporting them as they find their voice and confidence as Montessori educators. And as a lifelong learner, I embrace the journey alongside my fellow educators, continuously growing and evolving in my understanding of Montessori education.

Milinh Villanueva

Montessori Educator & Administrator
SAGE Instructor: Philosophy

With nearly 13 years of experience in Montessori education, I am dedicated to guiding both children and adults on their Montessori journeys. My passion lies in mentoring educators, fostering a deep understanding of Montessori philosophy, and creating learning environments where both children and adult learners thrive. I hold an AMS Primary Diploma from the Montessori Teacher Education Center and a Master’s in Montessori Education from Sarasota University. Currently, I am furthering my expertise through the AMS Instructor Academy, expanding my knowledge of Montessori philosophy and adult learning theory.

My approach to teaching adults mirrors the Montessori principles I apply in the classroom—respect, autonomy, and intrinsic motivation. I believe that adult learners, like children, thrive in environments where they feel valued, empowered, and in control of their own growth. Education is a transformative journey, and I am committed to fostering a growth mindset, encouraging educators to explore, reflect, and apply Montessori principles in meaningful ways.

As a mentor and instructor, I emphasize the role of the teacher as a guide rather than a lecturer. I facilitate discussions, ask thought-provoking questions, and encourage collaboration, allowing adult learners to construct their own understanding through dialogue and reflection. This approach aligns with Montessori’s vision of lifelong learning—reinforcing that growth and self-discovery continue at every stage of life.

I believe that mistakes are not failures but opportunities for deeper learning. Observation, active listening, and flexibility guide my approach, ensuring that each learner receives the support they need in a way that is personal and relevant. I take time to understand the unique experiences and challenges of those new to Montessori education, providing resources, mentorship, and meaningful feedback that help them develop confidence and skill.

Maria Montessori’s vision of the educator as a scientist, servant, and saint continues to inspire my work. As a scientist, I observe, adapt, and refine my approach to best support each learner. As a servant, I am committed to guiding and empowering others—whether teachers, parents, or lifelong learners—as they discover their own strengths and potential. And as a saint, I approach my work with patience, compassion, and a deep respect for the transformative power of Montessori education.
