At MSOSV, we believe in helping children build a sense of community from an early age. Each month, our kindergarteners visit a different community site tied to curricular themes, from cultural arts and local businesses to civic services and nature spaces. Field trips are planned intentionally to integrate with classroom studies, be developmentally appropriate, and allow reflect discussion points. Recently, our Kindergarten class from our Cantera campus visited the Georgetown Police Department for an exciting day of discovery.
On September 17th, 2025, our Kindergarten students received a special tour of the police station and met the people who keep our community safe. From the dispatch center to the holding areas, the children saw firsthand how the officers work.
Throughout September, children explore how people in our community contribute to our safety, health, and everyday life. This study nurtures empathy and respect, while building vocabulary around responsibility, cooperation, and citizenship, values that serve children now and in the years ahead.
The visit included an interactive safety talk designed for young learners. The officers shared important lessons in a friendly and engaging way. This made it easy for the children to understand how to stay safe and who they can trust to help them.
One of the most exciting moments was exploring the police officer’s training courses and even getting to try some of them out for themselves, this created an unforgettable memory for our Kindergarteners. Every part of the visit captured their curiosity and enthusiasm.
A day of learning and fun this trip gave our students more than just a fun outing. It was a meaningful experience that showed them the important role police officers play in keeping our community safe. We are grateful to Lt. Robeys and the Georgetown Police Department for welcoming our students and giving them a day they will always remember.
