During the months of July and August MSOSV introduces a fun and educational Summer Curriculum.
The Summer Curriculum rotates through a three-year cycle that includes:
We explore and meet the animals and plants of the changing habitats as we move from forest to snow. Children love learning about Habitats!
Tropical Rainforests, Deserts, Forests, Polar Regions and Wetlands – the children will learn about each environment, plant life, animal life and homes. How much rain? Does it snow?
Each community will create different habitats right in the classroom. They will learn about seasons, and about the 3-different types of forest canopies.
How do the animals survive the extreme climates? What kind of animals live in the swamps and bogs?
Children are natural observers and very curious. It is crucial to take these instincts and use them to their full potential while they are young.
Science is everywhere! Young children notice that fact more than anyone! Montessori science activities allow children to learn all they can about the world around them with very little adult intervention.
The children will take a journey with Fun- Educational- Exciting- Science Exploration. We will spend our weeks learning about the Solar System, Growing Living Things, gooey and very interesting Science Experiments and Earth Study with Geology and Dinosaurs.
Through art, academic work and lots of hands on activities, your child will experience the Science Unit in a fun and educational way.
Water makes up approximately 71% of the Earth’s surface. That water is filled with cool things to learn about and explore
What better way to get some learning and fun during the summer than to study the ocean. The children will spend their summer learning about the Beach Life, Sharks, the Kelp Forest, Ocean Transportation, and more.
