At Cantera Montessori, our recent Parent Education evening focused on one of the most significant transitions in early childhood: the Toilet Learning Journey. Rooted in Montessori philosophy, toileting is not a milestone to rush. It is a developmental process guided by independence, observation, and respect. Understanding Readiness Toilet learning typically aligns with a sensitive period between 12–36 months. During this time, children show growing body awareness and a desire for independence. Signs of readiness may include: Interest in the bathroom routine Discomfort when wet Staying dry for longer periods Communicating about elimination Wanting

Happy holidays! As we head into this joyful (and sometimes very exciting!) break, we wanted to share a few simple ideas that make an enormous difference in helping our young children feel calm, regulated, and ready to learn when we all come back together in January. The holiday season often means later bedtimes, more screens, visitors, and changes in routine; all of which are fun but can make little bodies and brains feel a bit “wobbly” when school starts again. Even small steps toward these habits over the next few weeks help

At Cantera Montessori School, we believe that education is a partnership between the school and the family. Just as the Montessori method emphasizes collaboration, independence, and respect in the classroom, we believe these values are equally important when nurturing a vibrant and supportive parent community. Why Parent Community Matters A strong parent community provides the foundation for a child’s educational journey. When families are engaged and feel connected, children thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. The bridge between home and school becomes stronger, fostering consistency and trust in the child’s daily environment. Parents who

A Blog By Milinh Villanueva, Head of School, Cantera Montessori As parents, we all want to support our children in the best way possible. But how do we truly understand their developmental growth and create an environment that nurtures their natural learning process? Montessori education provides valuable insights into child development, combining neuroscience, environmental influences, and hands-on learning. In this blog we highlight our recent Parent Ed Event exploring what is Montessori: Connecting Neuroscience, Development and Practical Strategies, we’ll explore three key areas: understanding developmental growth, implementing Montessori strategies at home,
