Why the First Moment at the Door Matters More Than You Think
Every morning at drop-off, there is a moment that sets the tone for the day ahead. It’s the transition from home to school, from parent to guide. At MSOSV, we have always understood that this moment carries real weight. That’s why, beginning March 23rd, your child’s Lead Guide will be standing at the classroom door to greet your family personally each morning.
Within the Montessori philosophy, the relationship between guide and child is foundational. The Lead Guide is not simply an instructor. They are the person who knows your child’s rhythms, interests, and where they are on their individual learning journey. When a guide greets a child at the door, it communicates something clear: you belong here, I see you, and I’m ready for you today.
For children navigating separation, this moment can change the experience of arrival. A familiar, present face at the threshold of the classroom makes the transition from parent to guide feel natural and secure. It helps children step into their day with confidence.
For families, the Morning Greeter initiative creates an opportunity to stay connected with your child’s Lead Guide. There is no need to wait for a scheduled conference to share a quick observation or hear how your child is doing. That small exchange at the door builds the kind of ongoing partnership that benefits children directly.
Community is a core value at MSOSV. Programs like the Morning Greeter are how that value shows up in the daily life of the school. We are a community working together in support of each child’s growth, one morning at a time.
We look forward to seeing you at the door.
