A Joyful Spring Egg Hunt at Cabrillo Montessori

Last Friday at Cabrillo Montessori felt like a true celebration of spring, one of those days where everything comes together in a way that reflects the heart of our community.

Our annual Spring Egg Hunt brought together children and families from our Sequoia, Yellowstone, and Pinnacles classrooms for an afternoon that was equal parts joyful, engaging, and meaningful. The play yard quickly transformed into a space of discovery, where children moved with purpose and excitement, scanning every corner in search of hidden treasures. Baskets filled up, but more importantly, so did smiles.

What made the afternoon especially memorable was the way it naturally aligned with the Montessori spirit. While the egg hunt itself was playful, it also encouraged exploration, independence, and collaboration. Some children eagerly darted from one spot to another, while others took a more thoughtful approach, carefully observing their surroundings before making their next move. Each child engaged in their own way, and every approach was celebrated.

Beyond the hunt, the event became a meaningful opportunity for connection. Families had the chance to spend time together, children interacted across classroom communities, and conversations flowed easily among parents and staff. Moments like these strengthen the sense of belonging that defines Cabrillo.

A highlight of the day was the visit from Pearl Saldanha, parent of Maya from Sequoia, along with Santa Clara Homesteaders 4-H. Their farm animals added a rich, hands-on experience that many children do not encounter every day. Watching the children gently interact with the animals, curious, respectful, and fully present, was a reminder of how powerful these real-world connections can be. It brought an extra layer of wonder to the afternoon and deepened the children’s engagement with the natural world.

Events like our Spring Egg Hunt are about more than tradition. They are about creating shared experiences that children will carry with them. They reinforce community, spark curiosity, and provide opportunities for joy that feel both simple and profound.

We are grateful to every Cabrillo family who joined us and helped make the day so special. As we move further into the season, we look forward to many more moments that bring our community together in meaningful ways.
