• Honoring the 25-Year Legacy of Calaveras Montessori: The Heart of MSOSV

As we prepare to close the doors of Calaveras Montessori School this June, we find ourselves reflecting on the extraordinary journey that began here over 25 years ago. Calaveras wasn’t just the first school in the MSOSV family—it was the spark that ignited a vision for Montessori education in Silicon Valley. It was a place where children took their first steps into independence, where teachers found their calling, and where families built lifelong connections rooted in trust and care.

A Beginning That Shaped a Movement

When Calaveras Montessori first opened its doors, it carried with it a bold and heartfelt mission: to nurture each child’s natural curiosity and independence through the Montessori method. At a time when holistic, child-centered learning wasn’t as widely embraced in the region, this small school in Milpitas stood as a beacon of innovation, inclusion, and respect for childhood.

It was here that the MSOSV philosophy was born—one that values deep, personal relationships with families, prioritizes hands-on, purposeful learning, and believes that every child deserves the chance to flourish at their own pace.

    A Home Away from Home

For many, Calaveras was more than a school—it was a second home. The classrooms, filled with soft light and carefully chosen Montessori materials, were places of joyful exploration. The staff, known for their dedication and warmth, provided stability and compassion that generations of children thrived under.

Countless stories have unfolded within these walls—first friendships, proud discoveries, quiet moments of concentration, and heartfelt goodbyes. Alumni often return with their own children, eager to share the environment that once nurtured them. For some of our team members, Calaveras was not just their workplace but the community that shaped their lives.

Honoring a Legacy of Love and Learning

On Friday, June 27th from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, we will gather as a community—past and present—to honor this legacy together. We invite current and alumni families to join us at 1331 E. Calaveras Blvd., Milpitas, to share memories, photos, and laughter as we celebrate what Calaveras has meant to each of us.

This event is not just a farewell; it’s a tribute to the lives touched and transformed here. We will reflect on our shared stories, celebrate our collective growth, and express our deepest gratitude for the foundation that Calaveras laid for MSOSV’s future.

👉 RSVP Here so we can plan for a heartfelt and memorable gathering.

    Looking Ahead with Gratitude

While it is never easy to say goodbye, we know that the spirit of Calaveras will live on in every MSOSV classroom. The values it instilled—respect, wonder, community, and love—are embedded in every teacher, every program, and every student who has walked through its doors.

Calaveras Montessori may be closing, but its legacy is far from over. Today, MSOSV proudly continues that legacy through our vibrant community of schools:

    • Cabrillo Montessori in Santa Clara, CA
    • Crescent Montessori right here in Milpitas, CA
    • Peak Ave Montessori in Morgan Hill, CA
    • And our first out-of-state expansion, Cantera Montessori in Georgetown, Texas

Each location carries the same dedication to authentic Montessori education, warm family partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to nurturing every child’s potential. These schools are not only thriving—they’re expanding upon the foundation that Calaveras laid more than two decades ago.

As we look to the future, we do so with deep gratitude for all that Calaveras has been and with excitement for all that is still to come in the MSOSV journey.

    With full hearts,
    The MSOSV Team
