What does a fully implemented Montessori education look like in practice? It starts long before your child walks through the classroom door. At Montessori School of Silicon Valley (MSOSV), our commitment to excellence is built and renewed every year through intentional professional development. On July 1st, our entire teaching community comes together for a full day dedicated to growth, learning, and celebrating the people who make our school community thrive.

Expert Perspectives on Child Development

This year, we are bringing in two guest speakers to lead targeted professional development workshops for our teaching teams. A licensed speech pathologist will work directly with our infant-toddler teachers, sharing strategies to support early communication development in our youngest learners. A behavioral therapist will lead a session with our primary guides, focusing on practical tools for supporting children who benefit from a little extra care and attention. These workshops reflect our belief that understanding the whole child is central to good Montessori teaching.

Building the Curriculum Together

Staff Development Day also gives our teachers time to collaborate on curriculum. This season, teams will work through a hands-on, make-and-take curriculum unit built around apples, creating materials they can bring back to their classrooms. This kind of collaborative unit-building strengthens consistency across campuses and gives teachers a chance to learn from and inspire each other.

Celebrating the People Who Show Up Every Day

The day closes with a staff appreciation luncheon. We will recognize promotions, honor years of service, and share a catered meal together as a community. At MSOSV, our staff are the heart of everything we do. Taking time to acknowledge their dedication matters deeply to us.

Closure Reminder

All MSOSV campuses will be closed on July 1st for our Staff Development as well as July 2nd and 3rd in observance of the 4th of July holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on July 6th. Wishing your family a wonderful holiday weekend!
