MSOSV Kindergarten Children Spend a Fall Morning at Spina Farms

On October 9th, Kindergarten children from each of our California campuses gathered at Spina Farms Pumpkin Patch for a shared fall field trip.

The 10:30 a.m. visit gave children from our Cabrillo and Crescent campuses time together away from their usual classroom environments. It also offered a seasonal experience connected to the natural world and the broader community.

Practicing Independence in a New Setting

A field trip asks children to use many of the skills they develop throughout the school day. They follow directions, keep track of personal belongings, move safely with a group, and show grace and courtesy toward the people around them.

These responsibilities are especially meaningful during the Kindergarten year. With the support of their guides, children are increasingly able to manage transitions, respond to expectations, and participate thoughtfully in unfamiliar settings.

An Important Part of the Kindergarten Year

Kindergarten is the culminating year of the three-year Primary cycle. Children continue learning in a multi-age classroom while taking on greater responsibility and participating in experiences planned for their developmental stage.

Field trips extend the prepared environment into the community. They give children a chance to apply their growing independence beyond campus and return to the classroom with a shared experience they can discuss, reflect on, and connect to future work.

The Spina Farms visit was part of the Kindergarten field trip program available to children at our California campuses. We appreciate the guides and families whose preparation helped the children participate in the day with confidence.
