Handprints, Costumes, and Treats: Trunk or Treat at Cabrillo

Friday’s Trunk or Treat filled our Cabrillo campus with a sea of costumes. Superheroes walked beside princesses, pumpkins held tight to their parents’ hands, and every decorated trunk had a cluster of small trick-or-treaters waiting their turn. Our families and local businesses brought the decorations and the treats, and Halloween-themed activities kept the fun going from one stop to the next.

Many of our children carried the bags they decorated at Harvest Festival earlier this month, and those bags tell their own story. Our youngest children made theirs with help from their guides, pressing a handprint in the colors they chose. Our Primary children created their own designs with stamps and stencils, then signed them with their name and the year.

Every one of those choices was theirs. In the classroom, our children choose their work and see it through themselves. On Friday, that same independence went trunk to trunk in a bag they made with their own hands.

Trunk or Treat is also our biggest alumni event of the year. Families whose children have moved on from Cabrillo come back year after year to celebrate with us, and on Friday they were back again, catching up with the guides and families they know so well. New families put names to the faces they see at drop-off, and our current children showed their families around the place they spend their days.

Thank you to everyone who decorated a trunk, came back to visit, or joined us for the first time at our Santa Clara campus.
