As we prepare to close the doors of Calaveras Montessori this Friday, our hearts have been drawn again and again to one of the most beloved parts of our campus—the garden. For many years, it has been more than just a space for plants to grow. It has been a quiet sanctuary, a learning environment, and a place where joyful childhood moments naturally unfolded.
In these final weeks, the children have spent meaningful time in the garden, returning to it with gentle purpose. Over the past month, they have nurtured it with care—planting seeds, watering growing sprouts, and enjoying its peaceful rhythm. The garden has become the setting for so many final memories, serving as a comforting constant as we prepare to say goodbye.
But their connection went beyond tending the soil. The children also brought their creativity to the space—making art inspired by the plants, trees, and life around them. They painted garden signs, sketched flowers, and created small keepsakes that reflected what the garden meant to them. It was their way of leaving something beautiful behind, and of honoring a place that has given them so much.
Through their hands and hearts, the garden became a celebration of all that Calaveras has stood for over the last 25 years: peaceful independence, joyful discovery, and deep connection.
Though our doors will close, the spirit of Calaveras will live on—in the memories, the stories, and the roots we’ve planted together.
With heartfelt thanks to all our families and friends,
The Calaveras Montessori Team
